Isolation

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, isolation means being set apart from others and being alone. Whenever I feel depressed or am going through an episode I tend to isolate myself. In my isolation, I am free to have self-pity, I can let all the negative thoughts engulf my mind. I am more likely to stay in my depression longer when I self isolate. I don't have to answer questions such as "How are you? What are you feeling? On a scale of one to ten, how's your mood"? When I'm isolated I'm giving myself permission to bask and dwell in my depression.

I can not emphasize how unhealthy and dangerous this is. When you are isolated you are more likely to feel helpless. I once read in a book that all the enemy has to do to destroy people's lives is to get them isolated. As humans, we are built for relationships. We are not called to be alone.

Proverbs 18:1 says "Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all judgment". The takeaway for today is to ask for help. There is no shame in confiding in someone or reaching out to a friend, mentor, parent, family member for help. It is much better to find support then isolate your self and try to wait out the storm which is your depression. If you do not have someone to confide in I am always here. Yes it is the enemy plan to keep us isolated to keep attacking us. I know it is easier said then done but with more practice God can help you break out of isolation and seek in in those moment. I enjoy reading this post I can relate ❤️❤️❤️
